L&M Named Agency of Record for ¡Comida Local!

Laxalt and McIver have been tapped to be the Agency of Record for Comida Local, the latest initiative of Hungry Mother Organics of Minden, Nevada.

Comida Local is a project designed to generate awareness and to increase the marketability of Nevada agricultural products to the Hispanic community, while educating and engaging the community at large about the benefits of Nevada agricultural products.

The project will help to each Hispanics as an important and underserved consumer group, and has the added benefit for the potential to increase entrepreneurial, farming and employment opportunities in the local agricultural economy.

Comida Local has engaged Laxalt and McIver as its agency to develop targeted marketing strategies and communications to engage Hispanic consumers. Informational videos, print collateral and broadcast advertising are currently in production as part of a community-wide marketing campaign.

“Comida Local strives to bring healthy, sustainable food options to every corner of Nevada’s diverse community by promoting local agricultural production from farm to market to table.” says Principal Jacob O’Farrell. “We’re delighted to have Peter Laxalt and Matt McIver and their talented team on board and know that their expertise will be invaluable to the project.”

Additionally, a series of educational classes and community events will be announced soon. Some of the participating farms and organizations include; Great Basin Community Food Co-op, Holley Family Farms, Girl Farm, Sandhill Farmstead, Carson City Greenhouse Project, High Desert Farming Initiative and Urban Roots.

Comida Local is made possible through The Northern Nevada Hispanic Marketing Initiative is a grant program funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, under the Federal-State Marketing Improvement Program. The project will be administered by the Nevada Department of Agriculture, in cooperation with Hungry Mother Organics, to assess demand for locally grown fruits and vegetables in the Hispanic community of northern Nevada, and to provide insights to Nevada growers seeking to improve their effectiveness in marketing to diverse consumers.
